We will be in charge of development, maintenance and training activities for the ECCAIRS2 air traffic incident reporting system for four years.
The European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has awarded us the ECCAIRS2 project to develop and maintain its air traffic incident reporting system. The project has a duration of four years with a maximum budget of EUR 4.5 million.
ECCAIRS2 (European Co-ordination Center for Accident and Incident Reporting Systems) is a digital platform supporting European National Aviation Authorities and Safety Investigation Authorities.
The mission of ECCAIRS2 is to provide a digital platform implementing the provisions set out in Regulation (EU) No 376/2014. ECCAIRS helps aviation authorities collect, share and analyse their safety information with the ultimate goal of enhancing aviation safety.
The project is managed by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) on request of the Directorate-General for Mobility and Transport (DG Move).
Integrated system management
Through Bilbomática, an Altia Company, we began the development of ECCAIRS2 in 2019. The system is in continuous use by the different national authorities and aviation safety organisations in the Member States, as well as construction companies, totalling more than 5,000 users, which will reach 20,000 by 2025. Over the next four years, we will continue to handle the evolution, maintenance and training activities of this system.
The project encompasses the end-to-end management of the ECCAIRS2 system, from analysis through development, deployment and quality assurance to post-implementation support. Container deployment, test automation and integration of DevSecOps practices are key elements we have implemented to build a reliable and secure system. Our commitment to continuous delivery allows the system to evolve concurrently with the emerging needs of EASA and Member States, all within an AGILE development framework.
“Aviation safety is a growing concern with each passing day, and to have the opportunity to keep contributing our experience to enhance it for another four years is a responsibility that we take on with the utmost ambition,” says Óscar Fernández, Altia’s European Services Manager. “With this project, we will undoubtedly continue to demonstrate that technology and innovation go hand in hand with safety and operational efficiency”.
The award of this contract shows the confidence EU bodies have in Altia. The European Aviation Safety Agency, in particular, has relied on our capabilities for development, maintenance and training activities for this aviation incident reporting system since 2019.
